Laya Trek of Bhutan

Laya, located in the remote region of Bhutan, is a small yet vibrant village known for its unique culture, rich traditions, and stunning natural beauty. Situated at an altitude of about 3,800 meters, Laya is home to the indigenous Layap people, who maintain their distinct lifestyle, dress, and customs. Surrounded by breathtaking landscapes, including lush meadows, towering mountains, and dense forests, the village offers a peaceful retreat away from the bustling cities. Trekking through Laya provides travelers with a chance to experience Bhutan’s serene wilderness, encounter diverse flora and fauna, and witness authentic Bhutanese village life.

The Laya people of Bhutan rely on yaks to carry essential items such as supplies, household goods, and trade goods. Yaks, strong and sturdy animals adapted to high-altitude conditions, are used to transport goods across challenging mountain terrain. Laya villagers carefully pack their belongings onto yak-back using sturdy straps and blankets, ensuring stability during long treks. Yaks play a vital role in daily life, enabling the community to access remote areas and trade with neighboring regions.
